About Me!
Glad to meet you everyone~! I'm Elain, live in Banqiuo, New Taipei City. The first thing I want to say is thankyou, for all of you to join this group and practice English writing with me. Dute to I am not good at studying by myself, I usually need partners to learn or study together. However it's not easy for me to find someone who has the same goal and need as me. That's why I created this group and invited you to join me.
Since I was in elementary school, I am not good at studying and reading, I usually feel asleep when reading textbooks especially the subjects which I don't have interest. However, I have great talent and interest in art, so I learned painting in the studio and attained the school's chorus. The first time I feel I am a good student in my live is in college because I majored in Fine Art and all assignments and studies are paintings, art history, and the things about art. Even most of my classmates are not good at studying just like me. Our graduating art exhibitions were held in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung, they were successfully finished in this year. For me, It was a perfect experience in the end of my college life.
Now I am a practical teacher in an elementary school in Banqiuo, everyday after school I usually study with my friends in the study room of a City playground near by. One of my dreams is that I can be a good teacher, who can help all the children explore their talents and be a happy person in the future. For this ambition, I have to learn a lot from my practical guide teacher and study hard for the exam at the same time. Also English is now very important, so I have to keep in touch with it. Wish all of you can get your dreams and be a happy person everyday!
Something about me
Something about me
Hi, my name is Betty Peng. I'm a third-grade senior high school student from Taouyan Chongli. As a resort of the College Entrance Exam next year, I struggle to study every day as long as I can, which makes me feel exhausted from time to time, thinking about whether it is worthy or not since I often heard of people saying, '' Having a better college doesn't necessarily mean you can get a better job.'' However, I deeply understand what I should do is do my best, trying to enroll in the college I desire.Speaking of something that I would like to major in is international trade and diplomat; one of my reasons is both of them have more opportunities to study aboard than others. Consequently, to keep improving my English skill, I participate in the English writing group and having some foreign pen pals from different countries. These really help me a lot, increasing my urge of exploring the world as well.
Put aside the heavy schoolwork, there is a movie rather popular in Taiwanese recently called Lucy. Have you ever watched that? I haven't, but I would like to share the movie I like the most, which is From Up On Poppy Hill. It's a masterpiece from Shun Miyazaki, talking about sincerity between the two senior high school students. I really recommend it! I hope you will take some time to watch it.

Click to know me!
Hi, I am Roy. I'm from Yunlin, and my grandmother's home is in Pingtung. I had my bachelor's and master's degrees in Hsinchu, and I enrolled in substitute military service in I-lan till this Aug. I'm now working for a tech-company in Chunghe, New Taipei City and will be staying here for at least 3 years...hopefully. Since relocating is nothing new to me, I'm familiar with southern, western and eastern Taiwan, but still barely know the 2 biggest capital cities of Taiwan. I guess I'll have a lot of time to get to know these places.
My hobbies are jogging, mountain climbing, cycling, and many other outdoor activities. One thing that bothers me recently was the crowded environment in Taipei. 3 weeks ago, I was in rather slow-paced I-lan city, and now I am located in one of the densely populated place in the world. I prefer to exercise in a open area. So a few days ago, I tried to explore a natural place to jog, e.g., riversides and mountain trails, but the efforts were in vain. :( I once went to the track and field of 錦和 park and found 3 times more crowded than any other parks I have seen....Anyway, I'll keep looking for a suitable place to exercise.
Since this is a English writing group, I would like to share my experience of learning English. I had participated
in many English related extracurricular activities, such as joining King Car Educational
Foundations and being as a camp leader and a teaching assistant. The responsibilities included coordinating camp affairs with volunteers and American teachers and designing teaching plans. In addition, I was also a teaching assistant of TOP
English Camp, which holds summer and winter camps in high schools in Taiwan.
The most challenging part of the job was to pretend myself as a foreigner and
deceive all the participants by speaking only English during the camp.
Although I work for an international company, but I still lack of the chances to practice English writing and speaking. I'm really glad to join this group and to grow with others!!

the Pros and Cons of a part-time job
the Pros and Cons of a part-time job
Usually, a part-time job plays an important role in a college student's life. In financial supply, it aids the inadequacy of allowance from their parents; on the other hand, having a part-time job, especially relating to what you learned, is of use for applying a full-time job in the future. What's more, a part-time job not only teaches them the way and the attitude of doing or serving, but also it lets them understand the painstaking of earning money, so that they won't have a tendency to take what they have for granted. It seems that there are a number of advantages of a part-time job. However, it can also bring something bad. I've heard of that lots of people learn how to smoke in their part-time job; though this doesn't only happen in it, it's still one of the drawbacks of part-time jobs. Also, some people have to engage in social activities, either with their colleagues or with their boss; this might not be serious; nonetheless, if they lost their self-control, it may represent that they will spend more money on socializing in the future.
In short, whether part-time jobs are good or bad, inclusive of other things in different fields, which depends on how you do.

Did your appearance judge you?
According to “yes123”s’ survey, there’s
some Face Validity in interview process. 69.9% enterprises acknowledged that
they select employees by their appearances. Some people said the first
impression is very important when you confronting your associates. For example,
when you visit a company ,the noble hall would convince you that’s a good
institute. The fancy style would be associated with wealth and well-organized
working.
On the other hand, these feelings must stand
the test of time. When we walk close to this building, it would be another
story. You might see the dust on the window, the wall is made by wood not
concrete. The vacancy are impatient while they received you. The appearance was
better than it is.
So let’s get back to the topic. Though appearance
would cause an effect instantaneously, yet the inner competency effect upon the
later. In conclusion I’d like to say that one’s appearance judged a him/her at
the first time, but the character is important in a long-term relationship.

Is Appearance really Important?
Old people often tell the young “Don’t judge
a person by his appearance” .
meaning capability is more important
than appearance. However , nowadays , a lot of people come to the conclusion
that appearance is more important than capability.
As for me, I can’t agree with this
argument. I think there is one more that the “heart” is the most important
part.
We all know that appearance is the first
impression that people know about you. But as time goes by, people will find out
the truly of your heart.
So I think we need to find out what's the important to ourself.

Is Appearance really Important?
Is Appearance really Important?
Do you dress up yourself in front of a mirror for an hour every time before throwing a bag of rubbish? Do you make up yourself just because you are going to a convenient store situated within thirty seconds' walk from your home? If you do so, don't be ashamed! Appearance is of importance to lots of people; even the indigenous people in Taiwan in time immemorial used accessories to make them look better.
As a saying goes,'' First impressions are half the battle.'' As far as I'm concerned, having a good appearance when you meet someone first time is more significant than other situations. What's more, there's a research from British showing that when a person considers how the other person is, the appearance, which takes 42%, plays a vital role of first impressions; however, the personality, which we originally think changing others perspectives more, only takes 7%. Therefore, some go out with make-up to let themselves look more befitting or pretty in that that might be the first impression for others.
Nevertheless, on the other contrary, a well- known master respected by Taiwanese entertains a different opinion. ''What you thought will reveal to your appearance,'' she said. This is another angle to look at this issue.
To sum up, having a good appearance may be necessary, but meanwhile, don't forget to nourish your mind. Despite the fact that making up yourself can be a good way to increase your score in first impression, I agree more the line in the movie called The Devil Wears Prada: A girl only need to wear two things to look great: confidence and a smile.

Do something different on weekends
Most people weekend routine is watching
TV, playing online game or lying in bed all day long. What else can we do on
the weekend? For me, I prefer to learn something that I am interested in or
help my career. For instance, My English is not good so I have made up my mind to
enhance my English speaking and writing. I am trying to join the English group
and finding some people who have the same habit in improving English skills
each other. This is exactly what I am doing right now. If you are very keen on
music, such as jazz, pop music, and classic music, then going to the concert is
another great choice. Even you can take an instrument playing course. Playing a
musical instrument can bring joy to you and to everyone around you. On the
other hand, according to my experience that playing an instrument helped me deal
with depression and other emotional issues. So make a difference plan for your
weekend.

What can We Do on the Weekends?
What can We Do on the Weekends?
Most of the people either watch TV on their weekends, or play computer games at their undisturbed personal secret space to while away the weekends, even though they are not ''home geeks''.Therefore, what on earth occurred the phenomenon? Traced to its source, I think maybe it result from no hobbits or nothing appealing to them. Anyways, that's not the importance we'll talk about today. Let's focus on what can we do to pass the time meaningfully? There are some activities below I recommend:
First, going for an outing will be your best choice. Personally, weekends are the time for us to bring about a relationship with our family members and friends in the hustle and bustle of the era. Hiking on the slope with trees lined besides the pavement, you'll learned how beautiful the world is, which you haven't noticed it before.
If you are not favorable for nature, than you can try some activities indoors which is good for you. For instance, playing puzzles can improve your observation ability, doing math exercises may help you on logical problems or reading knowledgeable references can increase your erudition.
To sum up, take good advantage of your weekends from now on, not jut sitting in front of your silent and dull machine, or being a couch potato for all day, you'll find out there're more interesting and fascinating things than that in your life.

Favorite Things to do On Weekend
On weekends, going out with my families is my favorite things to do. In July, I went to be a lecturer in a summer camp for age 6 to 12 every week days from eight to five. Spent all days with those funny kids, that was a very interesting things but also a very tired job to me. Especially when the climate was hot and wet, those kids would become much crazier than usual.
After working on weekdays, I always felt tired out. However the exciting activities were waiting for me, because I could have a bid dinner with my families when I off work on Friday. On weekends, mom usually invites us to go out-door, like hiking in the mountains, traveling to hot spots in other cities, shopping in the depantmentstore, watching movies, attaining exhabitions in the museum, and so on. Usually after the nice activities on weekend, I would have enough energy and spirit to start a new week working. That's why I love going out with my families on weekend very much.

Disorder in Taiwan
I was burned and grew up in Taiwan, I love
my country very much. But there are still some disorders in Taiwan that I hope
it can become different. When something bad happens, people in Taiwan like to
complain rather than solving the problem. Children complain about parents,
employees complain about their boss, students complain about teachers, and the
people complain about the president, etc. It is no use for solving problems if
we keep complaining about it or putting the blame on the others. Just like what
Stanley Yen write in his book “Don’t just ask what the nation can do for you,
but think about what you can do for the nation.” When we are going to complain
about the other, we should ask ourselves if we can do it better, and try to
solve the problem at the first time.

I Have a Dream
I Have a Dream
From our children, we have learned again and again most of the countries in the world in geography class. Not only their climates or landforms, but also a variety of cultures or customs have already impressed in our mind. I consider that this is one of the reasons why there are a large number of people want to explore the world.I'm one of them, too. I've desired to travel around the world for many years. I think it can both broaden our horizons and let us cast prejudice away, among other benefits. To sum up, putting the dream into practice is the most significant or all the things are just empty talk.
Because I'm still a senior high school student, I couldn't support my expenses; therefore, entering a good college may be my first step now, so that I can get more resources and opportunities in the future. Also, I've planned to be an exchange student in junior, and work part-time and vacation meanwhile after graduating from college. Notwithstanding plan is left behind change forever, I'm ready for confronting different challenges!

My Ambition
Everyone has his ambition, including me. My ambition is to be a
teacher, help all kinds of students to find their happiness. In my childhood, I
saw different kinds of teachers. Some of them were good teachers, but there was
some teachers who only notice children’s studies and ignore students’ morality.
I was one of the students who is not good at studying, however I was lucky and met a very
good teacher who changed me a lot. From then on, I told myself I must be a good
teacher to help all children in this society.
To make my dream come true, the most important step for me now is to
pass an examination. I have to study hard every day at the same time with the practical
training in the elementary school, no matter how tired I will be. After practical
training, I must study hard day and night to pass the examination and can be a teacher.

Why Telephone is so important in our Lives
Telephone is an instrument that we cannot do without
today, no matter if it’s a telephone or a cellphone, this invention influence our
live very much. It’s very hard to imagine about how modern people live without a
telephone, I think it would be very difficult for people now a days.
With the telephones, cram school, sell person or companies can connect with their customers in a very convenience and great efficiency way. Also, we can keep in touch with our friends and relatives who live far away from us through telephones. The recent technology even made it possible and affordable for people to search the internet by cellphone, we can talk with our families who work in another countries by cellphone without heavy bill. Most importantly, we can ask for help by cellphone when emergency in time. These are the reasons why telephone is so important in our lives.

The importance of telephones 電話的重要性 -- Betty Peng
The importance of telephone
Do you know how the ancient people communicate with each other? Dating back to hundreds years ago, people sent letters to each other by birds. Decades ago, a career called '' mailman'' came out. Time slips; as the technology improves, fortunately, we are able to talk to our friends or families in distance through a special invention--telephone.Nowadays, there is no exaggeration to say that telephones play a significant role in our lives. If it had not been for invention, we might not have chatted with our classmates after school, or called our parents for urgent information. On the contrary, with the telephones, you can tell the gossips to your friends instantly you just learned on the way home rather than waiting until Monday, and also, you may ask the homework lying on a couch with a pack of chips filling your mouth via a telephone. To sum up, we can't live without telephones at the present.
